Rachel Tyree (27) is a newbie to Tampa, and calls Nashville, Tennessee home. She is a first generation graduate from Middle Tennessee State University, and is currently seeking her MA in Applied Anthropology at the University of South Florida, where she is working to bridge the gap and foster real, sustainable solidarity between her chosen field and a collective struggle for justice. Rachel has been a part of the Nashville and Murfreesboro Fair Food groups, including a yearlong stint as a local coordinating committee member for NFF, and has participated/organized in several other worker- and community-led efforts to reclaim power, lift up workers, and break down racism. While she may miss the dynamic community of freedom fighters who fired her up in Tennessee, she is so excited to bring that energy to Florida, and help build an even stronger base of support for our folks in Immokalee as a new member of the SC! She also loves to cook (and eat!), travel, and talk about her three awesome nephews.
