Sarah Ahmed (24) is a New Yorker, born and raised, working as a Patient Advocate at Open Door Family Medical Center and towards her Masters in Public Health. Coming from the Muslim faith with family of Jamaican and Pakistani heritage, Sarah's perspective on community organizing is one of collective liberation that is driven by her existence embodying different communities and struggles. Sarah became involved with the Campaign for Fair Food after an opportunity to attend the 2012 Encuentro and hasn't looked back since! Working with CIW and the ally organizations is dream realized of student and youth organizing that integrates the importance of community, the power of consciousness and effective strategy. As she moves into her third year on the Steering Committee, she works to build an increasing Fair Food presence in the New York Metro Area. She is honored and excited to be part of the 2015 Steering Committee!
