Steering Committee: Application

We're looking for dedicated and self-motivated leaders to form part of the 2012 SFA Steering Committee.

Please carefully review the outline of SC roles & responsibilities before applying. If you have any questions regarding the structure of the steering committee, roles and responsibilities, or anything else, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Ideal candidates have previous experience organizing around the Campaign for Fair Food, are accountable, committed to the struggle for farmworker and social justice, and able to dedicate at least 10 hours per month to SFA organizing.

Please answer the following questions in three to six sentences.

1. What have you done to further the work of SFA and CIW?

2. What other work have you engaged in that you feel is relevant to SFA?

3. What are your goals for SFA? What is working well now? What should be improved?

4. How do you envision your role as a Steering Committee member within the context of the Supermarket campaign? Do you have ideas for organizing projects to build local support with students, youth, and other community groups?

5. Anti-racism and a systemic analysis of power is central to SFA's work. How would you build upon this commitment as a Steering Committee member?

6. In what ways do you see yourself as accountable as a Steering Committee member and how will you hold yourself to that standard?

7. Are you able to make the necessary time commitment and fundraise to help support your local work (and, when necessary, national Campaign projects and mobilizations)?
