Over the past decade, SFA has distinguished itself as a cutting-edge force organizing for social change. Standing shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the most impoverished workers in the U.S., these students and youth are ensuring that a new day continues to dawn in Florida's fields.

Throughout the process, this network has provided a critical space for leadership development, movement building, and strategic campaigning for hundreds of organizers.

"Working 12-hour days, making our battle plans against McDonald's, and feeling both burdened and excited knowing that our only choice was victory; Watching as classrooms of college students transformed from indifference to outrage by hearing workers tell their truths and realities; And realizing that I was being transformed as well..."
—Robert, 2008 SFA Steering Committee, describing his experience in the leadup to the 2007 McDonald's Mobilization

"I first got involved with SFA because my mom started coming to the CIW's women's meeting, where I would help with childcare. I met SFA people there and then started to learn more about and really get into SFA because they work with students like me, trying to get them to understand what goes on in the fields like the ones where my mother works. It's important to let students know how they can help put an end to the injustices that are going on."

"My experience with the CIW and SFA changed my understanding of the world... I’ve seen the same transformation take place in the lives of hundreds of students and youth around the country because of this movement. There’s a certain brilliance that you can see and feel in people’s eyes and smiles after they have participated in their first (and second, and third, and every consecutive) action, knowing that things can and do change..."

"Over the years, the SFA network has become more than an organization for me—it's become an extended community of mentors, allies, and friends. Some of the most valuable lessons I've learned have come from this struggle, and these lessons mean as much to me as the victories we've won together. Coming from a family that has campesinos, US deportees and luchadoras/freedom fighters among its ranks, I know that this struggle isn't just about justice for farmworkers—its about justice for all people, everywhere, and each victory along the way makes the vision on the horizon all that much closer."
